In this new stretch of season 53, the youth of World Communism Team was first entered into Vuelta Salinas (U23), with high hope for a result and hopes to possibly scrap a win. Unfortunately for the team of the proletariat, a combination of off days, crashes and mechanicals did not make a result possible. However, Kuumba Rusesabagina finished the race in 8th position, while Michel Ngabo came in in 9th position trailing in his wheel to the finish.
Shortly after this, Kuumba Rusesabagina and Michel Ngabo had the privilege to race against each other on the WT stage while racing for their respective National teams Tanzania and Rwanda in Aberystweth - Llanelli (WT).
The following two weeks were a series of unlucky races for the team, Trail of the Abunes, Bergen - Os and Bath - Bournemouth came and went with World Communism Team riders consistently unable to make an impact, with various levels of misfortune plaguing the squad.
All this at a time when points scored in Season 52 were about to expire, and the “spectre” (cultural reference) of relegation to Division 7 was again creeping up on the ambitious team in red and gold.
Same went with Valcea - Sibiu and Mgarr - Mellieha even though the team only had garnered hopes to surprise the field in breakaways and did not have riders amongst the favourites.
Then came the day to race in Friedrichshafen - Ravensburg, the team had put a lot of focus to prepare for this race, and had carefully planned the lead up to it, in order to be in great condition.
Finally, the luck turned, and the plan worked wonders, the team put in a more than memorable collective performance, taking control of the race from the front and leaving nothing to chance. Addis Gebreselassie deservedly took his first win of the season, the second in Season 53 for World Communism Team and the first ever in Division 6 for the team.
Even more remarkable, while assisting Gebreselassie to the finish, Xolani Lamola crossed the line in 5th position, and Kuumba Rusesabagina in 7th, registering three riders in the top 9 in a race that the cycling loving working class folks will remember for seasons to come.
To win this race, Addis Gebreselassie overcame Tevž Košir of Team Tachira in second position, and regular rival Matthijs Zorge of Team Arctic in third place.
At the beginning of the season the chairman of the team had announced targeting 7 official results, including 2 wins. At this point in the season, 4 results including 2 wins have now been achieve, leaving the team to go after three more official results within the 30 days left in the season.
